2. Money doesn't grow on trees, Neither do pineapples!
Pineapples are tropical fruits which usually takes up to 24 months to mature. Yes its not your typical fruit which you can pick in no time. However after 2 years of growing, the pineapple is bound to be sweet. Although fruits are grown on trees, Pineapples are grown on plants in the ground. You need a pineapple to grow a pineapple because it starts and ends as the same product.
Getting started...
1. Get a pineapple sucker from a mature pineapple plant. If you buy a pineapple from the supermarket, you can use the top (the spiky leaves) after peeling it and let dry or cure for a day or two before planting.
2. Dig a shallow hole in the ground and place the pineapple in, you can use a pot if you prefer, just make sure to secure the pineapple with the soil so it is firm and will not topple over.
Finally, you must not be too excited to harvest, if eaten before ripen, you can be poisoned.
Pineapples do not need excessive water nor high quality soil. why? simply because their leaves are very tough, hence evaporation does not affect the amount of water retained. Additionally, this type of fruit is from the bromeliads family that does not have a great root system to require top quality soil.
